The back of the dress

I finished the back of Hester's dress this morning. It looks v. small, but that's because the stockinette stitch rolls in on itself. Once I block it, stitch it together, and add the trim, it should be the correct size for her. Fingers crossed, anyway! This is what the dress should look like when it's finished, by the way:

I think it's getting there, don't you?

So amazing! Bearing in mind your last post, when the hell do you do it woman?

You're totally my knitting hero.

I'm planning on winning the lottery tomorrow (it's an especially large jackpot, the only time I pay attention).... as long as I remember to buy a ticket. So when that happens, I will make it my goal to outknit you in all my new free time. Ha.

I knit like crazy from 8am till whenever the first kid shows up, then again at naptime when I'm not writing daily notes or blogging. After Hester goes to bed, I knit as much as I can stand without going cross-eyed. Good thing baby clothes are so small, though. It would take me forever to do an adult project.

Well you're still my knitting hero. I think it's awesome. I think part of my problem is when I'm actually following a pattern, it takes me a while to re-acclimate to what I'm doing when I pick it up again, so I like to have big blocks of time to work on it solidly.

As you may remember from when I showed you my sweater a while back, I bound off about 20 rows too early on one piece because I got confused about what I was doing. Luckily I was able to fix it.

Anyway, I'm sure Hester's dress will be lovely, and it will be such a wonderful keepsake! My mom still has her favorite things she made for me when I was little. There's a famously fancy easter dress from when I was about 8 that had all this amazing embroidery and ribbon work on it. I know she has that.

What a pretty dress! I think it's wonderful that you're making it for her, and I, too, can't wait to see her in it.
