Gribbly

I'm still trying to decide about today. It's not as hands-down awful as yesterday, but it's still pretty crappy. Too bad I can't nap while the kids are sleeping, you know? I bet the day would look better with a little more rest.

Pluses
1. only 1 child today since 1 is on vacation and another is home sick
2. haystacks
3. Found by Davy Rothbart; it made me laugh during baby's morning naptime
4. kitties and Clary being v. sweet and affectionate
5. it's Friday
6. Spring Bulb Show is this weekend

Minuses
1. child who's here is irritable, plus I'm worried about sick child
2. I have a low-grade fever, scratchy throat, achy back, and chills (though so far no stomach symptoms, knock on wood)
3. after mopping the floor twice yesterday, it's filthy again after Clara tracked muddy water through the house
4. Petunia has to go to urgent care tonight because her foot is messed up

See what I mean? The pluses outnumber the minuses, but the minuses outweigh the pluses.

Not cool! What is going on? What's wrong with Hashbrown's foot? I'm so sad! Will you be able to recuperate over the weekend? I hope so! You should do something to treat yourselves to restore from the last 2 crappy days. A special dinner or baked goodies or movie night or something. Poor ladies!

Thanks, Jenny PP. Hash's foot has been bothering her for weeks now, and it's very localized to a particular joint in the top of her foot. She's been giving it RICE, but today she showed it to a PT at work who told her that "a bone might have shifted" in her foot. WHAT? So tonight we're trekking up to urgent care to get it examined. Her doctor's office didn't have any appts. she could take, so that's why the urgent care visit. To top it off, she's had her own 2 days from hell involving nasty office politics.

SIGH.

This weekend we're due to finally, really-and-truly finish up work in Hester's room. It just needs some trimming and a little decorating, and it'll be ready for Hash's brother B.'s visit in a couple of weeks. We were also going to check out the spring bulb show with our neighbor Green Thumb. All of that will get scrapped if Hash's foot is broken and I've got the flu. Luckily, I have a tower of books from the library, and Hashbrown has the latest installment of Dead Like Me from the Netflix. Resting up wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for us.

What are your plans this weekend?

Schoolwork, schoolwork, schoolwork. Which means me helping with studying and otherwise cleaning and such. We always try to start the weekend off doing as much work as we can as early as we can but it usually bleeds over into Sunday by more than we want it to.

We'll see what happens... tonight we have to go to the grocery store - the regular one, rather than Whole Foods where we usually buy a few things like salad and bread and dairy but not everything - so we'll zipcar it to the Shaw's in Brighton and probably pick up some takeout instead of cooking for once.

Then it's home to do laundry and pick up the apartment so hopefully we don't have too much of that to do this weekend... which means lots of time for school stuff for Rob and maybe I can do a little yarn related work and finish up some gifts for my aunt. I'm almost done with her shawl - I'm halfway finished with the shell-stitch crochet border.

Well, one way or another I hope you guys get some rest in. Sounds like you could use it!

OOOHH, Petunia and Peaches, sounds like a crappy few days! Hope the foot is okay - keep us posted - and I'm knocking wood that neither of you get the flu (again!). I got over my bout, but today hubby and son were home sick, and daughter is NOT Florence Nightingale. (actually, she's a royal pain in the ass - much better when SHE's sick, and son is Mr Nurture. Waiting for spring to wash away all these nasty viruses and such.

Well it wasn't good luck for my backpack which I had to throw away. Is there any smell more vomit inducing than pigeon poop?
